Hungry for news? Welcome to our Friday Feed, where we run through all the local food and restaurant news this week—and maybe help you figure out where to eat this weekend.
Matcha Watcha: Neighbors Edition
Two new cafés are opening soon on a short stretch of S King in the Chinatown–International District, each with weirdly AI-driven Instagram presences that offer little clue of what customers can actually expect (or when). In the one-time SuSu Dessert Bar (now T55 Patisserie in Bothell) space, comes Miero Coffee Bar, which appears to be serving test drinks as they prepare to open. Less than a block away, in the former YiFang spot, comes Le Grey Tea Co.
Noodle Night
The team behind Fremont fave Kin Len Thai Night Bites and minichain Isarn Thai Soul Kitchen has soft-opened their ode to Bangkok’s Chinatown in the former Eight Row space. Gao Lhao Noodle Shop brings the energy and Thai-Chinese food from Yaowarat, with housemade crispy chive cakes, claypot crab noodles, and cocktails like A-ma’s cup of tea—with oolong-infused gin and pear liqueur.
Queen Anne Scoop
The Queen Anne location of Salt & Straw, in the former Homegrown, will open on Friday, August 29, as the Portland-based chain continues its rapid Seattle-area expansion. The Redmond location opened last month, and the Bellevue and Pike Place outposts will open by the end of the year. At the bottom of the hill, the old Peso’s space finally has plans—it is under development by a pair that includes the owner of Re:public and will be the Mercer, reports Puget Sound Business Journal.
Oh, BTW, here’s what you missed last week.
